Anna and I have been women of leisure this weekend. Although initially I was doing everything to stay busy—example: I cleaned my room, washed dishes, washed my clothes, took out the trash, walked around outside and took pictures…you get the idea—I decided that I needed to take a break and just breathe. I think I got used to staying busy that is was hard for me to slow down.
We cooked a wonderful dinner Saturday night and then explored the big metropolitan of Tahlequah. Actually, Tahlequah is a quaint, little town, but it has a cute “Main Street” area, a college, Northeastern State University, and Wal-Mart.
Because I’m limited on digital entertainment options and only have a few DVDs, I will probably be able to quote Wayne’s World by the end of the summer. I’d highly recommend it if you’re in the mood for a stupid-funny kind of movie.
After going to church today, I realized that I am very judgmental. I attended the church, Canterbury UMC, that my supervisor pastors and it’s a 12-step church for recovering addicts. I know that I should not judge anyone based on their socioeconomic status, sexuality, life choices, etc., for it is God’s place to judge and not mine. I get so caught up in my own world that I have trouble being around things I’m not used to. So, when I walked in the church I felt like I was just critiquing everything. During the service, this little girl, Shelby, walked over to me, sat on my lap, and started coloring in her coloring book. I was like whoa—this is weird. She didn’t know me, she didn’t ask, and she could have sat on anyone’s lap. However, I saw God in Shelby today. She trusted me and she didn’t judge me. We are all God’s beautiful children and God loves us all equally. Although I’ve written about this before, I know that I need to learn to “see” things like a child and appreciate things I’m not used to. We ended the service like people end AA meetings. It was different, but cool. "Keep coming back...it works if you work it"
This song really speaks mountains
JARS OF CLAY – LIKE A CHILD
After church, Anna and I treated ourselves to the Chili’s in Tahlequah. Then, we went to Lake Tenkiller, Oklahoma’s second largest lake which is conveniently located in Cookson. It was so awesome floating in the water and staring at these beautiful mountains beside the lake. I’ve discovered I’m in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains.
Earlier this week, Anna had to pick up one of the seniors for lunch, and on her way, she stumbled upon this amazing creek. She took me there today and it was so peaceful. I can’t wait to go back!
God is good.
