Here are some pictures from it:
This is the dog I called the humane society about. Meri said it was just fine for her to stay at the mission. So, we've fed her and she's so happy now!
Anna's family has been here the past few day. We toured Cherokee Nation yesterday.
Cherokee War Memorial:
Our tour guide was from the Blue Clan:
Anna showed her mom and sister the lake we go to:
The water is HIGHER!
Anna organizing school supplies:
All the wonderful mail we get comes to this box:
Tiny, as he prefers to be called, is our new chef. Although the chef I found didn't work out, Tiny has been a wonderful cook:
Debbie found this little puppy laying in the middle of the road. So, she picked him up and brought him back to the office. Meri showing him some love right after he was brought back:
Meri took him to the Vet today, and Debbie is going to keep him until we can find him a home.
I learned how to make mats yesterday! The "Recycle Rebound" program is a part of the cottage industries at Cookson Hills Center. They use old tires for the black part of the mat and then they used recycled water bottles for the colorful parts of it:
Jackie cutting the tire into really long strips:
Making even smaller strips:
Jackie's been trying to teach me Cherokee, but it's really hard for me to catch on! Sometime when I walk around the Senior Center, I hear a few of the older people speaking Cherokee. It's pretty cool.
Darrell making the mat:
The finished product:
So, Nelson Mandela's birthday (90 years old!) is tomorrow and I thought it would be fitting to post something by him:
"No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if the can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for loves comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
I like that.
Peace,
Meredith

Asbury UMC... I know people from an Asbury UMC in PA. It's a common church name, do know you which area/town/city of PA?
Hi Meredith,
OK - I'm trying to get a good picture here about the past few days. First you went to the Bordello, a good segue to the gallows, obviously. Then you lunched at a bar and then on to the graveyard....wow! what a day!
Sounds like a great tour for the parents when they come to visit.
I'm glad I'm not there cause I'd have another dog already in my car and on the way back to NC.
I, too, like the Mandela quote.
Peace to you
Lynne
